PM Modi Pledges to Boost Malda’s Economy with Food Processing Industry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public rally in North Malda, made a significant pledge that could transform the economic landscape of the region. He promised to set up a food processing industry to increase the income of the local farmers, who are known for their world-famous mangoes and ‘makhana’.

“The mangoes and ‘makhana’ produced by the farmers of Malda have gained worldwide recognition. We believe that the income of these farmers should increase. To achieve this, we will establish a food processing industry here,” PM Modi announced to the crowd.

The proposed food processing industry is expected to add value to the agricultural products and provide a direct market for the farmers’ produce. This would eliminate the need for intermediaries and ensure that the farmers receive fair prices for their produce.

However, the announcement was not without controversy. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has reportedly demanded a share in the proposed industry. “TMC demands their share in that also,” PM Modi stated, without elaborating on the specifics of these demands.

The announcement has sparked a new political discourse in the region. As the farmers eagerly await more information on this initiative, the political landscape in North Malda is set to undergo significant changes.
