Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Honor Kargil Heroes and Launch Shinkun La Tunnel Project on 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

On the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay tribute to the valiant soldiers who lost their lives during the Kargil War at the Kargil War Memorial. The solemn ceremony is scheduled for 9:20 AM, where Modi will commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of India’s armed forces in the 1999 conflict.

Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a significant day of remembrance, celebrating India’s victory in the Kargil War and honoring the soldiers who made supreme sacrifices. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the memorial will be a tribute to the courage and dedication of those who defended the nation’s sovereignty under challenging conditions.

In addition to the memorial visit, Prime Minister Modi will virtually inaugurate the Shinkun La Tunnel Project, marking a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development. The project involves constructing a 4.1 km long Twin-Tube tunnel at an elevation of approximately 15,800 feet along the Nimu – Padum – Darcha Road. Upon completion, the Shinkun La Tunnel will be the highest tunnel in the world.

The Shinkun La Tunnel is poised to revolutionize connectivity in Ladakh, providing all-weather access to Leh and enhancing logistical support for both military and civilian purposes. The tunnel’s strategic importance will facilitate efficient movement of armed forces and equipment, bolstering national security.

Moreover, the tunnel project is expected to spur economic growth and social development in Ladakh. Improved connectivity will boost trade, tourism, and regional development, contributing to the overall progress of the area.

Prime Minister Modi’s participation in both the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration and the Shinkun La Tunnel’s launch reflects a balanced approach of honoring historical sacrifices while investing in future infrastructure. The dual focus on remembrance and progress underscores the government’s commitment to preserving national heritage and fostering development.
