Maharashtra: Inaugural Landing of IAF C-295 Marks Milestone at Navi Mumbai International Airport

At the inaugural landing of the Indian Air Force (IAF) C-295 aircraft at Navi Mumbai International Airport, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed pride in the project’s progress. He remarked, “Today, the landing was done on a safe runway. When the airport work started, opposition leaders were asking a lot of questions. They said that such announcements are made a lot, and there will be no airport, but today there was a safe landing.”

Fadnavis highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it dispels doubts raised by critics regarding the viability of the airport project. He reassured stakeholders that commercial flights would commence soon, further enhancing connectivity in the region.

The successful landing of the C-295 aircraft is a pivotal step in the ongoing development of the Navi Mumbai International Airport, which began in August 2021. The airport is set to ease congestion at the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and cater to the increasing demand for air travel.

With the project on track to become operational in early 2025, Fadnavis’s comments underscore the government’s commitment to completing this crucial infrastructure endeavor. The event marks a new chapter for aviation in Maharashtra, promising to bolster economic growth and improve accessibility for travelers.
