Union Minister Ramdas Athawale paid tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on the occasion of his death anniversary, praising the architect of India’s Constitution for his enduring impact on the country’s democracy and social justice framework. Athawale emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals continue to guide the nation and urged citizens to honor his legacy by adhering to his vision of equality and justice.
“Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s death anniversary is being observed all over the world… Bhim Rao Ambedkar has awakened us, inspired us, and we are moving forward with his ideas,” Athawale said in his remarks. “He gave democracy to the country, he gave the Constitution… Everyone in India loves his ideology.”
The Minister also took the opportunity to highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to strengthening the Constitution, stating that the attempts to accuse him of undermining it are baseless. “PM Modi is strengthening his Constitution… The attempt to accuse him (PM Modi) is baseless. The Constitution should not be brought into politics. This kind of politics should be avoided,” Athawale asserted, defending the Prime Minister against political allegations.
Athawale specifically referenced the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), a political coalition in Maharashtra, accusing them of trying to change the Constitution during the state elections. “During the election in Maharashtra, the Maha Vikas Aghadi campaigned to change the Constitution. However, the public rejected them and gave our Mahayuti more votes than expected,” he remarked, pointing to the success of the alliance led by the BJP and its allies.
The Union Minister emphasized that the current government, under the leadership of PM Modi, is committed to strengthening Maharashtra and ensuring justice for all its citizens. Athawale stressed that the principles of Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution would continue to guide the policies of the government, promoting equality, social justice, and national unity.
Athawale’s comments come at a time of heightened political debate over the role of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in modern Indian politics, with political leaders from various parties reflecting on his legacy as the nation marks his death anniversary.
