Mumbai: BJP leader Ram Kadam on Friday strongly condemned the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, calling it a serious security breach and an assault on democratic values.
“We condemn the attack on the Delhi Chief Minister. What was the intention of the accused? Why did he attack the state CM, who is a woman, in the middle of a crowd? Who are the masterminds behind him? What is their modus operandi and reasons? The police will investigate and probe all these aspects,” Kadam said.
He emphasised that the incident raised critical questions about the safety of elected leaders, particularly women in high office. Kadam also asserted that such acts not only target individuals but also challenge the dignity of democratic institutions.
The BJP leader said the investigation should go beyond the individual accused and focus on identifying the forces backing the incident. “Whoever is behind the accused will face strict action, and both the accused individual and the masterminds will be held accountable,” he added.
Political observers have noted that the incident has sparked widespread concern across party lines, with demands for enhanced security measures for chief ministers and other public representatives. Authorities are expected to submit a detailed report after probing all angles, including possible political motivations.
The Delhi Police have already initiated an investigation, and strict action has been assured against those found responsible.
