Mumbai: Eagle Infra India Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for the architectural finishing and pre-engineered building (PEB) roof contract CA-194 at seven stations of the 32.32 km Mumbai Metro Line-4 (Wadala – Kasarvadavali).
The contract, worth Rs. 198.19 crore, involves the supply and installation of PEB roof structures, false ceilings, flooring, cladding, painting, fire-fighting, plumbing and other works at the seven elevated stations in the northern-end of Mumbai Metro’s Green Line.
These stations are Mulund Fire Station, Mulund Naka, Teen Haath Naka (Thane), RTO Thane, Mahapalika Marg, Cadbury Junction and Majiwada.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the nodal agency for the project, had invited bids for the contract in October 2023 with a 20 month deadline. Technical bids were opened in December 2023 to reveal five bidders, namely Eagle Infra India, JMC Projects India, KEC International, Montecarlo and Reliance Infrastructure.
However, during technical evaluation, Relcon Infraprojects and Tata Projects Ltd. (TPL), who had earlier bagged the civil construction contract for the same stations, were disqualified as their bids were found non-compliant to the tender’s conditions.
According to sources, Eagle Infra India quoted Rs. 197.98 crore, which was 0.1% lower than the estimated cost and 2.6% lower than the second lowest bidder, JMC Projects India, who quoted Rs. 203.23 crore.
The other bidders were KEC International (Rs. 206.77 crore), Montecarlo (Rs. 212.34 crore) and Reliance Infrastructure (Rs. 214.87 crore).
MMRDA is expected to issue the letter of acceptance (LoA) to Eagle Infra India soon and award the contract within this month.
The Mumbai Metro Line-4, also known as the Green Line, is a part of the Mumbai Metro master plan and will connect Wadala in central Mumbai with Kasarvadavali in Thane district via Ghatkopar, Mulund and Teen Haath Naka.
The line will have 32 stations and will be integrated with the existing Line-1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar), Line-2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar), Line-5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) and Line-6 (Swami Samarth Nagar-Vikhroli).
The line is expected to reduce the travel time between Wadala and Kasarvadavali from 90 minutes to 64 minutes and ease the traffic congestion on the Eastern Express Highway.
The line is being funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) along with the central and state governments. The line is targeted to be operational by March 2025.
