Mumbai — Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressing admiration for the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra’s former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Speaking after his induction into the party, Jadhav said, “Since 2014, when the BJP government came to power at the Centre, the kind of love and support they have received and the kind of achievements PM Modi and CM Devendra Fadnavis have done, I think this is very inspirational.”
He added that he aims to follow in their footsteps and contribute to the party in whatever way he can. “Whatever responsibility I get, I am fully confident that I will try to do it with full honesty,” he said.
Jadhav’s entry into politics adds to the growing list of sportspersons aligning with the BJP, ahead of the upcoming elections. Party leaders welcomed his decision, calling it a boost to their outreach efforts in Maharashtra.
