In a landmark announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a transformative initiative aimed at redeveloping over 550 railway stations across 27 states and 300 districts. The scheme is part of the Indian Railways’ broader vision to revolutionize the country’s rail infrastructure and enhance passenger experience.
The Prime Minister launched 2,000 rail infrastructure projects under the scheme, with an estimated investment of about Rs 41,000 crore. “Amrit Bharat Station will introduce the specialities of that city to the world,” said the Prime Minister during the announcement.
A Transformation Journey
The Indian Railways, the lifeline of the nation, is set to undergo a significant transformation. The redevelopment plan under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is a testament to this commitment. The scheme aims to revamp more than 550 railway stations, reflecting the unique specialties of their respective cities and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
Prioritizing Accessibility
A key aspect of the redevelopment plan is its focus on accessibility. The revamped stations will prioritize facilities for Divyang (people with disabilities) and senior citizens, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience for all passengers.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme marks a new chapter in the history of Indian Railways, promising a future of enhanced connectivity, accessibility, and passenger comfort. As the stations undergo transformation, they will not only reflect the unique charm of their cities but also stand as symbols of a modern, inclusive, and progressive India.
