Mumbai, India – Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has strongly defended the Ladli Behna Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women through financial support, in response to ongoing criticism from opposition parties. Speaking at a press conference, Shinde dismissed the opposition’s claims that the scheme is flawed and merely a political ploy.
“From day one, the opposition has been against the Ladli Behna Yojana,” Shinde asserted. “They have labeled it as a bad scheme and an election ‘jumla.’ In fact, they even resorted to legal action because they were scared, as this scheme has become a superhit among the public.”
Shinde emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises, stating, “Ours is a government that provides. We do what we say.” He challenged opposition leaders to demonstrate what they accomplished during their tenure over the past two and a half years, implying that their record pales in comparison to the success of the current administration.
“The public will decide,” he said confidently. “They have already made up their minds that Mahayuti will form the government once again with full majority.”
The Ladli Behna Yojana has emerged as a significant talking point in Maharashtra’s political discourse, with supporters highlighting its positive impact on women’s financial independence. However, critics argue that it is a tactical move aimed at gaining votes in upcoming elections.
As the political climate intensifies, Shinde’s defense of the initiative reflects the BJP’s strategy to consolidate support ahead of the polls. The outcomes of the elections will likely hinge on public perception of both the Ladli Behna Yojana and the broader performance of the current government.
