Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced significant enhancements to the ‘Majhi Ladli Bahin’ scheme during a press briefing today, highlighting measures to broaden its scope and ensure effective implementation across the state. The scheme, renamed ‘Mukhyamantri Meri Ladli Behen,’ aims to empower women through financial support and has garnered substantial interest since its launch on July 1.
Addressing the media, CM Eknath Shinde emphasized the enthusiastic response to the scheme, noting the overwhelming participation of women at various registration centers. “We have witnessed a tremendous response to the ‘Mukhyamantri Meri Ladli Behen’ scheme across Maharashtra,” Shinde remarked, underscoring the scheme’s popularity among beneficiaries.
“In a recent meeting with Deputy Chief Ministers and the Women and Child Welfare Minister, it was decided to extend the age limit for beneficiaries from 60 to 65 years,” Shinde announced, highlighting efforts to enhance inclusivity and ensure more women benefit from the scheme. The registration deadline has also been extended to August 31, allowing additional time for eligible individuals to enroll and receive benefits.
Furthermore, CM Shinde addressed concerns regarding administrative procedures, stating, “The requirement for a domicile certificate has been relaxed to facilitate smoother implementation of the scheme.” He assured strict measures against any form of corruption, declaring, “No government employee associated with the scheme will receive any monetary benefit. Any instances of bribery will be met with severe consequences.”
Shinde reiterated that the financial allocations necessary for the ‘Mukhyamantri Meri Ladli Behen’ scheme have been incorporated into the state budget, ensuring sustainable funding for its operations. “The resources required for this initiative have already been allocated within the state budget,” he affirmed, highlighting the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and social welfare.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Meri Ladli Behen’ scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women across Maharashtra, supporting their economic empowerment and fostering gender equality. As the scheme enters its operational phase, CM Shinde expressed confidence in its ability to positively impact the lives of countless women and their families across the state.
