Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Affirms Shiv Sena’s Support for Waqf Amendment Bill, Emphasizes Welfare of Muslim Community

Mumbai – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed clear support for the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, reiterating Shiv Sena’s long-standing stance on the Waqf Board and its commitment to the welfare of the common people, particularly within the Muslim community.

Shinde, while addressing the ongoing debate surrounding the bill, asserted that Shiv Sena’s position on the Waqf Board has always been unequivocal. “Shiv Sena’s stand on the Waqf Board has always been clear… We will never compromise with our ideology for power or selfishness,” he said, reinforcing the party’s principle-driven approach to governance.

He went on to emphasize that the Waqf Amendment Bill is not a political move but a necessary step aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Muslims. “Our stand on the Waqf Amendment Bill is also clear… The Waqf Amendment Bill is for the welfare of the common people of the Muslim society, for their progress,” Shinde added, framing the bill as a reform that aims to benefit the broader Muslim community, particularly in ensuring the transparent and effective use of Waqf properties for their development.

Shinde’s remarks align with Shiv Sena’s broader support for reforms that promote social welfare and progress, marking the Waqf Amendment Bill as a crucial step toward ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the management of Waqf assets.
