Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled his vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) during the inaugural session of the ‘Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference,’ organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The conference, held in New Delhi, focused on the transformative effects of the latest Union Budget and the government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate economic progress.
In his keynote speech, Modi praised the achievements of the past decade, revealing that 25 crore Indians have risen out of poverty. He attributed this success to various government initiatives aimed at improving the Ease of Living and Quality of Life. “India’s growth trajectory is evident in the substantial progress we’ve made in lifting millions out of poverty and enhancing their standard of living,” Modi asserted.
The Prime Minister highlighted several key initiatives that have driven this progress, including the Mudra Scheme, Startup India, and Standup India programs. These initiatives have collectively empowered over 8 crore people to start their own businesses, reflecting the government’s focus on fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment.
The recently announced Union Budget includes a significant ₹2 lakh crore PM Package, designed to support over 4 crore young Indians. This package aims to equip the workforce with the skills needed to compete on a global stage and enhance the competitiveness of Indian products. In addition, the budget introduces new internship schemes and incentives for EPFO contributions, which are expected to generate job opportunities and provide support for employers.
Modi emphasized that the new budget measures are designed to be holistic, addressing both immediate needs and long-term objectives. “Our approach is comprehensive, aiming not only to create jobs but also to enhance the overall quality of employment and make Indian enterprises globally competitive,” he explained.
The conference served as a platform for industry leaders and policymakers to discuss the implications of these initiatives and explore collaborative strategies for achieving the vision of a developed India. With a focus on economic reforms and entrepreneurial support, the government aims to continue driving growth and improving the lives of its citizens.
