Mumbai Will Be Pothole-Free After May 31, Says Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday assured that Mumbai is on track to becoming pothole-free, with major road infrastructure works nearing completion ahead of the monsoon season.

Addressing the media, Shinde said, “The instructions given by us are being followed. Cement-concrete roads are being built everywhere. After May 31, there will be no road digging and potholes will be filled.”

He emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving civic infrastructure and reducing commuter inconvenience. “We are working to provide convenience to the people… Mumbai will be pothole-free,” Shinde declared.

The announcement comes as part of the government’s broader initiative to overhaul Mumbai’s roads, with an increased focus on durable concrete surfaces and strict timelines for completion. Residents have long expressed frustration over chronic potholes and frequent roadwork, especially during the monsoon.

Civic authorities are now under pressure to meet the May 31 deadline and ensure smoother travel across the city.
