PM Modi Highlights Judicial Reforms as Key to Achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’

In a powerful keynote address at the National Conference of District Judiciary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has articulated a comprehensive vision for judicial reform, emphasizing its crucial role in India’s pursuit of a “Viksit Bharat” or Developed India. His speech called for a sweeping modernization of the district judiciary, underscoring the importance of technological advancements and legislative updates.

PM Modi’s address centered on the urgent need to modernize the district judiciary to make it more efficient and responsive. He praised the e-Courts initiative, which he believes is transforming the judicial landscape by streamlining case management and reducing delays. The adoption of digital technologies is seen as a significant step toward achieving faster justice and overcoming long-standing inefficiencies in the legal system.

In addition to technological upgrades, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) reform. This proposed overhaul of the legal framework aims to simplify and update laws, making them more relevant and effective. According to Modi, these changes will facilitate swifter case resolutions and help the judiciary adapt to contemporary legal challenges.

A notable aspect of the Prime Minister’s speech was his focus on cases related to violence against women. Modi emphasized that the swift adjudication of such cases is not just a matter of legal efficiency but a critical factor in ensuring the safety and security of women across India. He argued that expedited justice in these cases will bolster public confidence and act as a deterrent against gender-based violence.

“The speed with which we address and resolve cases of violence against women is directly linked to the assurance of safety for our entire population,” Modi said. He stressed the need for a collective effort to support these reforms, ensuring that justice is both prompt and fair.

The National Conference of District Judiciary served as a platform for legal experts, policymakers, and judicial officers to engage in discussions about these reforms. The Prime Minister’s address underscored the government’s commitment to judicial modernization as a fundamental element of India’s development strategy.

By focusing on technological innovation, legislative reform, and the timely handling of sensitive cases, PM Modi’s vision seeks to transform the judiciary into a more effective instrument for justice. These changes are poised to play a vital role in the broader goal of developing a more just, equitable, and progressive society.
