Union Minister Piyush Goyal has strongly criticized Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi’s comments on President Droupadi Murmu, calling them inappropriate and disrespectful. Goyal highlighted the significance of President Murmu’s position as the first tribal woman to hold the office, asserting that she is a symbol of pride for the entire nation.
“President Droupadi Murmu is the pride of 140 crore Indians. She is the first tribal woman to occupy the highest office,” Goyal remarked, emphasizing her historical achievement. He further condemned the remarks made by Sonia Gandhi and other leaders of the Congress and INDI Alliance, accusing them of using derogatory language against the President.
“The kind of words that the Congress and INDI Alliance leaders use for President Droupadi Murmu again and again are condemnable,” Goyal said, underscoring the disrespect shown toward the tribal community by such remarks.
Goyal also pointed out that the insult directed towards President Murmu reflects deeper issues within the Congress party. “The insult of President Murmu reflects the sentiments that Congress leaders harbour for tribals,” he added.
He further criticized the inability of Congress and its allies to accept Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral victories, stating, “Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and INDI Alliance leaders have still not been able to accept the fact that the people of India have given the opportunity to PM Modi to serve the country for the third consecutive time.”
Concluding his statement, Goyal expressed his strong disapproval, saying, “I strongly condemn Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi” for their continued remarks against the President. This political clash highlights ongoing tensions between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition, especially in relation to the dignity and respect for India’s first tribal woman President.
