Mumbai, Maharashtra – Union Minister and BJP candidate from Mumbai North, Piyush Goyal, paid his respects to the 108 martyrs of the Samyukta Maharashtra movement on Maharashtra Day.
Goyal expressed his gratitude towards the martyrs, locally known as ‘hutatma’, whose sacrifices ensured that Mumbai remains an integral part of Maharashtra. “It is due to their sacrifice that Mumbai is an integral part of Maharashtra,” said Goyal during his address.
Maharashtra Day, celebrated on May 1st, marks the formation of the state of Maharashtra from the division of the Bombay State in 1960. It is a day of great significance for the people of Maharashtra, and Goyal’s tribute to the martyrs adds to the solemnity of the occasion.
“For all of us, Maharashtra Day is a very pious day,” Goyal added. He emphasized that the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the martyrs and motivates current and future generations to work towards a better tomorrow.
