Mumbai | Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal welcomed the 90-day relief granted by the United States on tariffs to India, calling it a testament to India’s effective diplomacy and economic management under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the media, Goyal said, “India is very efficiently handling the whole thing. PM Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump had already reached a consensus in February to sign a bilateral trade agreement aimed at strengthening mutual ties and simplifying trade.”
He further noted that the proposed India-US trade deal is expected to push bilateral trade to $500 billion, generate substantial employment opportunities, and strengthen India’s economy.
Highlighting the ongoing discussions, Goyal stated, “Our talks are progressing well,” suggesting that the 90-day window could pave the way for finalizing key aspects of the agreement.
The announcement comes amid growing strategic and economic cooperation between India and the United States, with both nations exploring avenues to deepen trade, technology, and defense partnerships.
