The Western Railway (WR) has announced the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express Train service between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central. The inaugural run is scheduled for March 13, 2024, according to a statement issued by the Western Railway.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will flag off the train via video conferencing on March 12, marking another significant milestone in India’s railway history.
The new service is the latest addition to the five Vande Bharat trains currently operating over Western Railway. These include services from Gandhinagar Capital to Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) to Jodhpur, Ahmedabad to Jamnagar, Indore-Bhopal to Nagpur, and Udaipur to Jaipur.
The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is India’s first semi-high speed train. The train is fully air-conditioned and provides world-class passenger amenities, pushing the envelope for railway travel comfort in India.
The introduction of the new service between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between the two cities, offering passengers a comfortable and efficient travel option.
