Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Vows Swift Action and Support Following Kanchenjunga Express Accident

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, has pledged immediate action and support in the aftermath of the Kanchenjunga Express train derailment in Darjeeling district, emphasizing the government’s commitment to passenger safety and welfare.

Upon arrival at the accident site, Minister Vaishnaw personally inspected the damaged train coaches and assessed the extent of the derailment. He met with railway officials, rescue teams, and local authorities to coordinate rescue efforts and ensure the swift evacuation and medical treatment of injured passengers.

“The safety and well-being of our passengers are of utmost importance. We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and are working tirelessly to assist those affected,” stated Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his visit.

The derailment resulted in injuries to several passengers, who were promptly transported to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Minister Vaishnaw visited the hospital to meet with the injured and their families, offering reassurances and support from the Ministry of Railways.

“We are providing all necessary medical assistance and support to the injured passengers. Our focus is on their recovery and ensuring that families are informed and cared for during this difficult time,” affirmed Minister Vaishnaw.

In response to the incident, Minister Vaishnaw announced the launch of a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the derailment and to prevent future occurrences. He underscored the government’s commitment to implementing stringent safety measures and enhancing infrastructure maintenance across the railway network.

“We will leave no stone unturned in investigating the derailment and ensuring accountability. Safety audits and upgrades will be expedited to safeguard the lives of our passengers,” assured Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Ministry of Railways has initiated efforts to restore normalcy in rail operations and minimize disruptions caused by the accident. Alternative arrangements have been made for affected passengers, with continuous updates provided through official channels to ensure transparency and clarity.

The Kanchenjunga Express derailment highlights the challenges inherent in managing India’s extensive railway network and underscores the imperative of maintaining rigorous safety standards.
