Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a pivotal diplomatic journey to Russia and Austria, aiming to bolster India’s bilateral relationships with these European nations. His departure statement highlighted the significance of deepening ties with countries that share longstanding friendships with India.

“In the coming days, I will be visiting Russia and Austria. These visits present a valuable opportunity to strengthen our ties with these nations, which have been built on a foundation of mutual respect and cooperation,” PM Modi remarked, underscoring the historical and strategic importance of these relationships.

PM Modi expressed eagerness to engage with the Indian community residing in Russia and Austria, recognizing their role as cultural ambassadors and important stakeholders in enhancing bilateral relations. “I eagerly anticipate interacting with the Indian community in both countries,” he affirmed.

During his visit to Russia, PM Modi is scheduled to hold comprehensive discussions with President Vladimir Putin to review and expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors. “I am looking forward to discussing all aspects of our bilateral cooperation with President Putin and exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” PM Modi stated.

India and Russia, bound by a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, have made significant strides in sectors such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges over the past decade. PM Modi’s visit seeks to build on these achievements and explore new avenues of collaboration.

After Russia, PM Modi will proceed to Austria, marking a milestone as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country in four decades. “During my visit to Austria, I look forward to meeting President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Austria is a steadfast partner of India, sharing common values of democracy and pluralism,” PM Modi emphasized.

The visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening its engagements with key global partners, fostering mutual prosperity, and contributing to regional and global stability. PM Modi’s diplomatic outreach to Russia and Austria is expected to reinforce India’s strategic footprint in Europe and pave the way for enhanced cooperation across diverse sectors in the years to come.
