BJP Leader Kirit Somaiya Demands Action Over Unauthorized Loudspeakers at Mosques

Date:

Mumbai, Maharashtra – BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has raised concerns over the installation of unauthorized loudspeakers at mosques in Mumbai, specifically in the Govandi area. Somaiya revealed that he had lodged a formal complaint at the Shivaji Nagar police station on April 5, urging authorities to take action against those responsible for installing loudspeakers without permission.

“In my complaint, I stated that unauthorized loudspeakers have been installed at 72 mosques. The police have accepted the complaint, and we have demanded that action be taken against those who have installed these illegal loudspeakers,” Somaiya said in a statement.

Somaiya emphasized that the issue was not just a matter of unauthorized installations but also a violation of the Mumbai High Court’s decision on the regulation of loudspeakers in public spaces. He stated, “Playing loudspeakers illegally, not following the Mumbai High Court’s decision, this will not be tolerated in Mumbai.”

The complaint comes amid increasing concerns over noise pollution and the need for adherence to legal and judicial guidelines regarding loudspeaker use in the city. The Mumbai High Court had previously issued directives to regulate the use of loudspeakers, and Somaiya’s complaint underscores the importance of enforcing these orders to maintain public order and ensure that all religious institutions comply with the law.

Local authorities are expected to investigate the matter and take appropriate action to address the installation of unauthorized loudspeakers in the area. Somaiya’s stance reflects his commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that public spaces in Mumbai remain peaceful and lawful for all citizens.
