Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis participated in the World Bamboo Day celebration held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Nariman Point, Mumbai. The event brought together government officials, environmental experts, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to promote the sustainable use of bamboo and highlight its potential as a green resource for economic growth.

Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis underscored the importance of bamboo cultivation in boosting rural livelihoods, supporting small industries, and contributing to environmental conservation. He emphasized that bamboo, often referred to as “green gold,” holds significant potential for employment generation, climate resilience, and eco-friendly development in Maharashtra and across India.

The Chief Minister praised the efforts of farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs who are exploring innovative ways to use bamboo in construction, furniture, handicrafts, and energy production. He also highlighted government initiatives to expand bamboo farming and create market linkages to ensure better income for growers.

Fadnavis reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting sustainable natural resources and aligning such initiatives with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) India. He urged industries and local communities to adopt bamboo-based products as an alternative to plastic and other non-biodegradable materials.

The event served as a platform to discuss policy support, technological advancements, and investment opportunities in the bamboo sector, reinforcing Maharashtra’s role in leading the country toward green and sustainable economic development.
