World Wildlife Day 2026: PM Modi, Om Birla and Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Biodiversity Conservation

On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and other senior leaders extended greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection.


PM Modi Highlights Biodiversity and Ecosystem Balance

In a message shared on social media platform X, PM Modi described World Wildlife Day as an opportunity to celebrate the planetโ€™s rich biodiversity that sustains ecological balance.

He appreciated the contributions of individuals dedicated to wildlife protection and reiterated Indiaโ€™s commitment to safeguarding natural habitats through sustained conservation efforts to ensure wildlife thrives for future generations.


Om Birla Emphasizes Biodiversity as Key to Survival

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that nature and human life are interdependent. He noted that biodiversity conservation is not only an environmental necessity but also essential for human survival.

Highlighting Indiaโ€™s progress in wildlife and forest conservation, he mentioned that the number of Ramsar wetlands in the country is nearing 100, reflecting Indiaโ€™s strong commitment to preserving ecological assets.

He added that protecting wildlife is not just a legal obligation but also a constitutional and moral responsibility.


Manoj Sinha Calls for Sustainable Development

Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said World Wildlife Day is a moment to celebrate Earthโ€™s rich diversity and renew the resolve for sustainable development and ecological security.

He urged collective efforts to protect wildlife, conserve ecosystems, and maintain harmony between human progress and nature.


Ministers Stress Ecosystem Restoration

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted the growing environmental threats and emphasized Indiaโ€™s commitment not only to conservation but also to restoring ecosystems by protecting essential species.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said every speciesโ€”from forests to oceansโ€”plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. He stressed that protecting wildlife is a responsibility toward future generations.
