Rail Boost for Coastal Maharashtra: New 510-Km Express Train to Connect Mumbai with Sawantwadi Road

Mumbai: Indian Railways has approved the introduction of a new daily express train service between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (Mumbai) and Sawantwadi Road, which will boost passenger connectivity in Maharashtra and Konkan region. This new train service will provide direct, improved, and convenient rail connectivity to passengers along a 510 km long route. It will benefit thousands of travelers commuting for tourism, education, employment, business, and other social needs.

The proposed train will run daily as Train No. 15087 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus–Sawantwadi Road Express and Train No. 15088 Sawantwadi Road–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Express.

Extensive Connectivity Across the Konkan Region

The new daily Express service will provide commercial stoppages at: Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Savarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road,and Sawantwadi Road.

This train will provide easy connectivity between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and key towns and districts, making it much easier to reach the Konkan coast.

Boosting tourism, economy and passenger convenience

This new service will strengthen rail connectivity between Mumbai and the southern Konkan region. It will facilitate travel for tourists visiting forts, temples, and eco-tourism sites in the area. Additionally, it will provide another direct rail link between Mumbai and the Konkan region, offering improved travel facilities for daily commuters, students, businesspeople, and local residents.

This new train is expected to meet the growing demand for rail transport on the Konkan route, while also boosting regional economic development, facilitating passenger movement, and improving travel convenience.

The new daily express service reflects Indian Railways’ unwavering commitment to enhancing passenger connectivity, making travel convenient, and fostering balanced regional development through a robust and accessible railway network.
