India-Brazil Sign ICT MoU to Boost AI, 5G, 6G, Cybersecurity and Digital Connectivity

India and Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the telecommunications and ICT sectors during the BRICS ICT Track Meeting held in Pune on Friday. Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Brazil’s Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho, signed the agreement.

The objective of the MoU is to foster digital innovation, strengthen digital infrastructure, and enhance technical cooperation in emerging technologies. This agreement reinforces the shared commitment of both countries to the strategic sectors of telecommunications and ICT.

Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia stated that this Memorandum of Understanding will further strengthen India-Brazil cooperation. It will enhance collaboration in areas such as connectivity, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, emerging technologies, capacity building, and the exchange of systems.

Framework for Comprehensive Information and Communication Technology Cooperation

This Memorandum of Understanding establishes an effective framework for strengthening bilateral cooperation in telecommunications and ICT. It will foster the exchange of information, experiences, and best practices based on equality, mutual benefit, and respect.

Under the agreement, the scope of cooperation extends from telecommunication policies and regulations to emerging technologies such as AI, 5G-6G, Open RAN, Internet of Things (IoT), Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity, LEO satellites, and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). It also encompasses critical areas such as spectrum and satellite management, digital infrastructure, optical fiber, and submarine cables.

This agreement will pave the way for cooperation in key areas such as cybersecurity, digital inclusion, universal connectivity, consumer protection, and digital transformation, while further strengthening telecommunications and ICT collaboration between India and Brazil. At the same time, it establishes a comprehensive and visionary cooperation framework for emerging technologies, digital infrastructure, and capacity building.
