Historic Youth Movement Against Drugs Begins: PM Modi Launches 100-Week Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’. Addressing the nationwide video conference organized for the occasion, the Prime Minister formally welcomed diverse groups, including over ten million young citizens connected from more than 28,000 locations.

The Prime Minister stated that the ‘Drug-Free Youth for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ is not merely an initiative linked to health, but a campaign concerning the interests of the family, society, and the nation. Modi ji stated that achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ requires a young generation that is physically fit, mentally strong, and self-confident, and stays away from drugs and other harmful habits.

The Prime Minister stated that the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began in Kashi, has now evolved into a successful national campaign driven by a scientific approach, spiritual energy, and public participation, with the support of over 125 spiritual organizations and numerous NGOs.

The government has launched the ‘MY Bharat’ platform to provide youth with opportunities for volunteering, leadership, and service to the nation, connecting over 2.23 crore young people. This platform is enhancing youth participation in the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

He stated that this campaign would continue for 100 weeks, with special events organized every Sunday. These activities will include sports, cultural events, meditation sessions, and public awareness drives. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the coming 100 Sundays would prove to be 100 significant steps towards building a drug-free India.

Extending his best wishes to the youth who have pledged to lead a drug-free life, Prime Minister Modi called upon them to spread awareness against drug abuse in their schools, colleges, and society. Describing the youth as the “Amrit generation”, he stated that their energy, innovation, and talent would play a crucial role in building a developed India by 2047.

Detailing the comprehensive support systems available for recovery, the Prime Minister highlighted the effectiveness of social support, yoga, meditation, and modern rehabilitation centers in overcoming addiction.

Prime Minister Modi assured the youth that the government would continue to take strict action against those involved in drug trafficking. Citing the drug seizures and enforcement actions carried out across the country, he expressed confidence that the youth would play a pivotal role in transforming India into a developed nation by staying away from drugs.
