Various units of Northern Railway are creating attractive artworks using waste and discarded materials under the theme “Kabaad se Jugaad” (Innovation from Scrap) or “Kabaad se Kala” (Art from Scrap).
Under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2026’ (Cleanliness is Service Campaign), the “Kabaad se Jugaad/Kabaad se Kala” program is being organized across various Northern Railway units to promote cleanliness, environmental conservation, and the reuse of waste materials. Through this creative initiative, railway employees have demonstrated their talent and team spirit by crafting attractive artworks from discarded and unused materials:
- Alambagh Diesel Shed and Electric Loco Shed, Ludhiana: Railway staff created beautiful artworks such as a hippopotamus, a clock, and other similar pieces.
- Diesel Shed, Tughlakabad and Electric Loco Shed, Ghaziabad: Railway staff created flower vases and other attractive artworks.
The primary objective of “Kabaad se Jugaad/Kabaad se Kala” is to raise awareness among employees regarding the environment and cleanliness, and to encourage the concept of ‘Waste to Art.’ This effort conveys the message that with the right mindset, innovation, and creativity, even items considered useless or waste can be put to meaningful use.
These artworks have not only transformed scrap into attractive creations but also delivered a powerful message regarding reuse, environmental conservation, and the optimal utilization of resources. Employees from various sections have brought these creations to life through their sustained skills, dedication, and excellent team spirit.
