PM Modi to Inaugurate Pune Metro’s Rs 8,300-Crore Pink Line, Launch Rs 13,500-Crore Phase-II Expansion on November 3

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Pune Metro Line 3, also known as the Pink Line, through video conferencing at 12:30 PM on November 3, 2026. During the event, he will also lay the foundation stone for Pune Metro Phase-II projects.

The combined projects, valued at around ₹21,800 crore, aim to expand Pune’s urban transport network and improve connectivity between major residential, commercial and IT hubs.

Built at a cost of over ₹8,300 crore, the 23-kilometer-long Pink Line will connect Maan in Hinjawadi to the District Court in Shivajinagar, providing improved connectivity to Pune’s key IT and commercial hubs. This corridor will integrate with the existing metro network and is expected to reduce traffic congestion and decrease reliance on private vehicles.

The entire corridor will be operated by women train operators, while solar power is expected to meet approximately 30% of its electricity requirements.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Pune Metro Phase-II, estimated to cost around ₹13,500 crore. It will comprise Lines 2A, 2B, 4 and 4A, expanding connectivity across major residential, commercial and IT hubs. Lines 2A and 2B will cover a combined 12.75 km, connecting Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi, respectively. Line 4 will span 25.52 km between Kharadi and Khadakwasla, while Line 4A will cover 6.12 km between Nal Stop and Manik Baug.

The expanded network will connect key locations such as Kharadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Swargate, Pune Cantonment, Warje, and Nanded City. Through interchange facilities, the new corridor will be linked to the existing metro network and intercity bus services.

These projects will expand Pune’s public transport network, improve connectivity to major employment hubs and promote accessible and sustainable urban transport within the city.
