New Delhi: The ‘AAERI Verify’ platform was officially launched during AAERI’s annual conference held in New Delhi on August 7, 2026. This initiative is the result of a partnership between the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Australian Education Representatives Association in India (AAERI).
Directly linked to DigiLocker, this digital platform will ensure the secure, paperless, and consent-based verification of academic, identity, and financial documents of students enrolling in Australian universities.
AAERI, in collaboration with NeGD, has launched the ‘AAERI Verify’ platform, which simplifies the verification of student documents and credentials for Australian higher education institutions. Integration with DigiLocker will enable students to securely share authenticated digital documents, thereby reducing reliance on paper documents and manual verification.
The recently launched digital workflow replaces the slow, manual verification of documents with a secure system, divided into two strategic stages:
Stage 1: Student Check – This is easily completed before the university application process begins.
Stage 2: Sponsor Check – This process is initiated immediately after the student receives an offer of admission to verify financial authenticity.
Mr. J.L. Gupta, Director of NeGD, stated that the integration of DigiLocker and AAERI Verify demonstrates the global utility of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). This initiative will make the international admission process secure, paperless, and easier for students.
Shri Gupta highlighted NeGD’s pivotal role in India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). Established in 2009 under MeitY, NeGD supports large-scale digital projects, policy frameworks, and technical evaluations, while ensuring better coordination among government digital platforms.
This platform supports the public workflows of various statutory organizations. These include the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), NITI Aayog, etc.
Ultimately, DigiLocker, a flagship initiative of National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under MeitY—enables citizens to securely store, share, and verify authentic digital documents. With over 720 million registered users, its integration with AAERI Verify marks a significant step towards extending India’s digital capabilities to the global education sector.
